Dalton woman gives officers fake name after being caught shoplifting from Walmart and Home Depot

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On October 13th, 2022, at 3:23 PM, Officer Jenkins responded to the area of 815 Shugart Road (Walmart) in reference to Jennifer Danielle-Emma Bartlett, 35, of Dalton, who had been trespassed from Walmart for shoplifting being on the propriety and had just shoplifted. The loss prevention associate advised he had Bartlett on camera, leaving the store with multiple items and walking away from the store. Officer McDaniel then was flagged down by an employee from Home Depot who advised a woman had just shoplifted from the store fleeing on foot. According to the report, He then located the female in the roadway in front of Home Depot. The female stated her name was Cari Gibson. Officer Jenkins reported, “[I] immediately knew that was false and that she was Bartlett. She then admitted that she lied about her name. The two cameras and playing cards that she took from Walmart were located in her bag that she was carrying.” The Walmart associate took the stolen items back, valued $297.95. Bartlett was then transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with theft by shoplifting, criminal trespass, and giving a false name to the officer. Bartlett also had stolen items from Home Depot, but they only wanted the items back, and they did not want to press charges per usual.
