According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On July 25th, 2022, at 8:33 PM, Cpl. Boyd was traveling north on I-75 Northbound mile marker 335. Cpl. Boyd report, “[I] saw a white 2020 Lexus IS 250c traveling more than the posted seventy (70) MPH speed limit while passing the medium traffic on I-75. [I] estimated, checked, and confirmed the Lexus’ speed at 106 MPH, using the rear antenna of a RADAR unit. [I] slowed, activated my emergency equipment, and pulled behind the Lexus to initiate a traffic stop. The Lexus would come to a stop on the left shoulder of I-75 northbound Exit 336 Ramp.” The driver, identified as Cynthia Joy Baird, 50, of Dalton, advised the reason for the speed was she was trying to take her dog to an emergency veterinarian.” Baird was allowed to contact someone to come get the dog and vehicle. Baird’s information returned showing an active felony warrant through the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant was confirmed, and a hold was placed. Baird was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with speeding, reckless driving and a hold placed for Cobb County.
