Dalton woman with warrant arrested after failing to move over for Whitfield County deputies checking on CMV

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On June 26th, 2022, at 11:08 PM, Deputy Center and Deputy Sharpe were checking on a commercial motor vehicle on the side of the North Dalton Bypass between Poly Pac Road and Reed Road. According to the report, “The deputies patrols car’s rear blue lights on. While checking on the vehicle, a black in color passenger car passed in the furthermost left lane closest to the patrol car. As the car passed, it did not appear to slow it’s speed and failed to change lanes as there was no traffic near the car, violating O.C.G.A. 40-6-16 procedure for passing stationary authorized emergency vehicles (move over law). Deputies Center and Sharpe got in the patrol vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Deputies made contact with driver, identified as Kella Reesha Parks, 48, of Dalton. After running her information, she returned through NCIC with a warrant out of Chatsworth for a failure to appear warrant for a traffic offense through the Chatsworth Police Department, and they wished to place a hold. Parks was transported to the Whitfield County Jail to be held by Chatsworth Police Department and was issued a citation for procedure for passing stationary authorized emergency vehicles (move over law).
