Drunk driver arrested after concerned citizen takes her keys from her and calls 911 in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On May 18th, 2022 at approximately 9:32 PM, Deputy Hall and Deputy Findley were dispatched to 490 Carbondale Road in reference to check welfare. The 911 caller advised Deputy Hall that she drove by Cove Baptist Church and spotted a vehicle with an open door that to her, looked out of the ordinary. According to the report, “She then turned around and made contact with a Felicia Adams, 47, of Dalton, who stated she had too much to drink.” She then took the keys from Ms. Adams so that she couldn’t drive off and kill anyone. According to the report, “Deputy Hall then made contact with Felicia Adams. Ms. Adams advised that she had been drinking 99 proof vodka shots and driving back home from the liquor store. Ms. Adams stated that she stopped at Cove Baptist Church to catch her breath and have some more to drink. Deputy Hall then asked for Ms. Adams to exit the vehicle. Upon standing, Ms. Adams collapsed and fell into Deputy Hall’s arms. Deputy Hall smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Ms. Adams’s breath. Ms. Adams also had empty vodka shot bottles on the floorboard on the driver’s side as well as in the, backseat. Due to Ms. Adams being extremely intoxicated and unbalanced, Deputy Findley decided not to do Standardized Field Sobriety.” Adams discovered that she was unlicensed. Adams was placed under arrest for DUI and was then transported to Whitfield County Jail, where she showed a BAC of .284 on the state test. Adams was charged with DUI, open container violation, and driving while unlicensed.
