Drunk driver leaves the scene of injury crash after running red light in LaFayette

According to a LaFayette Police Department incident report, on late Sunday night on July 25th, 2021, Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of North Main and Culberson. According to the report, Shelby Rae Mullis, 21, ran a red light and slammed into another vehicle. Shelby quickly left the scene before police arrived leaving the other injured driver she hit behind. According to the report, she was found later that night in the LaFayette Cemetery, covered with mud and smelling of alcohol. The driver she hit was not seriously injured. Mullis was transported to CHI Memorial in Fort Oglethorpe with minor injuries. According to the report, she said the last thing she remembered was being at a bar in downtown Chattanooga. She was charged with DUI, failure to obey the stop light and hit and run.
