DUI road check leads to DUI charge for Rome man in Floyd County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, on September 3rd, 2022, at 2:31 AM, Trooper Mosley participated in an approved DUI road check on North 2nd Avenue at West 3rd Street in Floyd County alongside multiple other Georgia State Patrol Troopers. Trooper Terry came into contact with Patrick Gene Jones, 34, of Rome, driving a white Buick sedan. Jones was asked if he had been drinking and advised that he had only consumed two (2) beers before driving. Trooper Mosley reported, “While speaking with Mr. Jones, [I] could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Mr. Jones’ person. Mr. Jones submitted to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.” Jones showed several signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Jones was transported to the Floyd County Jail, where he was charged with DUI.
