Florida man arrested for reckless driving after going 107 mph on I-75 in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on May 12th, 2021, at around 1:40 AM, Deputy Figg was working more speed enforcement on I-75 south at the 338 cut-through. According to the report, “While working traffic Deputy Figg observed a vehicle traveling south on 1-75 in the left lane at a high rate of speed. Deputy Figg checked the vehicle (Grey 2021 Nissan Altima rental) on LASER, the vehicle registered 107 MPH in a posted 70 MPH zone.” The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at mile marker 337. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Giorgi Bendiashvili, 31, of Key West, Florida. The deputy obtained his driver’s license and then took Giorgi into custody for reckless driving. The deputy then explained to the passenger that he could follow him to the Whitfield County Jail and pick up his brother once he was released from the jail. Giorgi was transported to the Whitfield County Jail charged with speeding and reckless driving.
