According to the Georgia State Patrol, “On June 1, a Trooper was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 411 at the Bartow/Floyd County Line. A Floyd County Police Department patrol car was stopped on the south shoulder of 411 with its flashing blue lights activated. A Honda Accord, driven by a 31-year-old male, was traveling east on 411. The Honda failed to maintain its lane of travel by crossing the right fog line. The Honda struck the left rear of the patrol car with its right front. Impact with the Honda caused the patrol vehicle to rotate further off the south shoulder. After impact, the Honda also rotated across both eastbound lanes of 411 and into the median. The Floyd County Police Officer, a 26-year-old male, was transported to Floyd Medical, by ambulance, with minor injuries. The driver of the Honda suffered visible injuries but refused medical treatment.” According to the Floyd County Police chief the officer was on the shoulder conducting a traffic stop.
