Rossville felon arrested after shooting motorcyclist during road rage incident on Battlefield Parkway Sunday

Fort Oglethorpe Police have located and arrested Joshua Aaron Bassham the Rossville felon wanted for shooting motorcyclist during road rage incident on Battlefield Parkway Sunday. Bassham was booked into the Catoosa County Jail, charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Fort Oglethorpe Police Department says concerned citizens and witnesses helped contribute to the quick arrest.

On October 10., 2021 at 3:53 pm Fort Oglethorpe Police officers were dispatched to Battlefield Parkway at Kellerhals Lane in reference to a motorist that had been shot. The incident stemmed from a road rage incident that occurred on Battlefield Parkway near Dietz Road. The victim was on a motorcycle, got off the motorcycle and confronted the driver of a green Nissan pick-up, the driver of the Nissan truck then shot the 22-year-old victim before fleeing the scene. Eye witnesses helped with descriptions of both the driver and the vehicle. A short time later an anonymous citizen provided information as to the possible location of the green Nissan truck. The vehicle was located behind the residence on Century Station Drive. The resident allowed the officers to search the residence however the driver had fled the scene. The suspect/driver of the vehicle was identified as 31-year-old Joshua Aaron Bassham of Rossville. The victim is being treated at a local hospital for his injuries. Arrest warrants have been issued for Joshua Aaron Bassham for Aggravated Assault, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, and Use of Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Do not attempt to confront or stop the suspect.
