Fort Oglethorpe woman crashes into tree in Chattooga County while attempting to flee from police

According to the Georgia State Patrol: “On Jan. 3, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Vehicle 1 (2015 Chrysler 200 Limited) was traveling east on Sardis Church Road. while traveling at a high rate of speed and evading law enforcement (Alabama Highway Patrol). Vehicle 1 failed to maintain its lane and entered into the westbound lane of travel. Vehicle 1 crested a hill in the westbound lane of Sardis Church Rd. while negotiating a curve to the right. Vehicle 1 ran off the roadway to the left. Vehicle 1 struck a tree on the north shoulder of Sardis Church Rd. The initial impact occurred on the north side of Sardis Church Rd. Vehicle 1 began to overturn onto its left side. The second area of impact occurred on Sardis Church Rd. approximately 10 feet east of the initial area of impact. Vehicle 1 began to rotate counter clockwise while on its side. Vehicle 1 came to a final uncontrolled rest on its left side facing west in approximately the center of Sardis Church Rd. The driver, Allie Jo DeBerry, age 30 of Ft. Oglethorpe, was injured. Ms. DeBerry was charged with Too fast for Conditions; Failure to Maintain Lane; Driving on the Wrong Side of Roadway; Suspended, Cancelled, or Revoked Registration; Reckless Driving; Possession of Open Container in Vehicle Passenger Area; Use of Safety Belts in Passenger Vehicles; and No Proof of Insurance.”
