Four injured in serious three-vehicle crash on the North Bypass in Dalton

According to a Dalton Police Department crash report, on February 23rd, 2022, at around 5:39 PM, A 2021 Ford F-150 being driven by Sheba Maree, 44, of Dunlap, TN, was traveling west on the North Dalton Bypass in the left-hand lane near Sawgrass Drive. A 1998 Ford F-150 being driven by Charles Beck, 57, of Dalton, was traveling west on the North Dalton Bypass in the left-hand lane. A 2014 Nissan Maxima being driven by Dianna Elm, 34, of Resaca, was also traveling west on the North Dalton Bypass but was uncertain of the lane at the time of the collision. According to the report, “Prior to the crash, there was a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Deputy that was behind a broke down vehicle with his emergency lights activated. He was facing east on the eastbound side of the road. Maree stated that she was traveling past a Whitfield County Sheriff’s car. She stated that once she had passed the vehicle, she was uncertain of what had happened. Beck stated that he was approaching the sheriff’s car, so he changed lanes to the left lane to move over for him. He stated that Maree’s Ford F-150 then came across the center turn lane and into his lane of traffic. The Ford sideswiped Beck going the opposite direction on the left side of his Ford F-150. Elm stated that she observed Maree’s Ford F-150 strike Beck’s Ford F-150. She stated that Maree’s then continued in front of her vehicle. She stated that Maree’s F-150 had turned to the point that she could see the passenger side of the F-150. Elm stated that she was unable to stop and collided with the left side of the F-150.” According to the report, the crash is still under investigation. Maree and Elm were both seriously injured in the crash and taken to Hamilton Medical Center by Hamilton EMS. Beck and passenger Kieth Beck, 57, of Dalton both suffered minor injuries and were transported to Hamilton Medical Center by Hamilton EMS.
