Georgia State Patrol investigating serious head-on crash on Highway 27 in Walker County Thursday

According to the Georgia State Patrol, “The following details are the preliminary findings of an investigation by Post 41 LaFayette. The findings are subject to change until the investigation is closed.” On Thursday, March 24th, 2022, at around 2:20 PM, Vehicle # 1 (2012 Chevrolet Cruze Driver – Jordan Craig, age 33 of Rocky Face) was traveling southbound on SR #1 (Highway 27) near Kay Conley Road. Vehicle # 2 (1985 Toyota 4 Runner Driver – Joe Therber, age 34 of Ringgold) was traveling northbound on SR #1 in the right travel lane. According to the Georgia State Patrol, “Vehicle # 1 crossed over the center turn lane and entered the northbound travel lanes. Vehicle # 1 struck vehicle # 2 on the left front headlight with the front left headlight of vehicle # 1. After impact, both vehicles rotated before coming to a final rest. Both driver # 1 and driver # 2 were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated. The area of impact was in the right northbound travel lane. Driver #1 – Jordan Craig was charged with DUI, Failure to Maintain Lane, Driving on Wrong Side of Roadway, and Unlawful to Purchase, Possess, or Have Control of any Controlled Substance. Driver #2 – Joe Therber was charged with Use of Safety Belts in Passenger Vehicles.” CHI EMS transported Therber to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN.
