GSP investigating crash that killed four-year-old and seriously injured four others in Murray County Monday

According to the Georgia State Patrol, “These are the preliminary investigative findings, and this crash is still under investigation. On April 25, at 5:49 p.m., Georgia State Patrol Post 43 Calhoun responded to a two-vehicle crash on GA 136 at Old Hwy 411 in Murray County. The preliminary investigation shows that a Dodge Caravan traveling north from Old Highway 411 failed to stop at the stop sign and traveled into the path of a Chevrolet Express van traveling west on GA 136, causing the Dodge to be struck on the passenger side. After impact, both vehicles left the roadway off the west shoulder. The Dodge struck a utility pole. Its driver and four children (ages 7, 5, 4 and 1) sustained serious injuries and were air lifted to local area hospitals. The driver is the mother of the children. The four-year-old succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is assisting with this crash investigation. The crash report is incomplete.” Photo via Murray County Public Safety
