GSP investigating fatal hit-and-run of elderly woman heading to family cookout Sunday in Catoosa County

According to the Georgia State Patrol, “These are the preliminary investigative findings, and this crash is still under investigation. On May 29, 2022, at 1:25 p.m., the Georgia State Patrol Post 5 Dalton was requested to investigate a hit and run fatal crash in the area of Mount Pisgah Road and Trinity Lane in Catoosa County. The preliminary investigation determined a maroon Ford Taurus was traveling west on Mount Pisgah Road and was slowing down to turn left into a driveway. An unidentified vehicle struck the Ford Taurus on the driver’s side and pushed it off the right edge of the roadway. The driver of the maroon Ford Taurus was identified as 88-year-old Ms. Dorothy Pauline Yates. Ms. Yates was transported to Erlanger Medical Center where she passed away from her injuries. The vehicle and driver involved in this crash that fled the scene has not been identified. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with this crash investigation.” Anyone with any information regarding this case should call the Georgia State Patrol, SCRT Team at 706-624-1484. A family member posted on Facebook saying, “This is my great aunt and she was on her way to our family cookout.
