According to the Georgia State Patrol, “On March 22, at approximately 12:40 p.m., GSP responded to a two-vehicle crash on SR #151 at Cooper Road. Upon arriving on scene, it was determined that a Honda Accord was traveling southbound and left the roadway on the west shoulder. The driver, Ms. Jenifer Reid, age 45 of Ringgold, overcorrected and entered into the northbound travel lane. The Honda made contact with a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) that was traveling northbound. The Honda was pushed from the roadway on the west shoulder and overturned, coming to rest on it’s top. The engine of the Honda was thrown from the vehicle and struck a residence that was approximately 135 feet off the west side of the roadway. The CMV exited the roadway on the east shoulder and struck an embankment where it came to a final uncontrolled rest. The CMV driver, Mr. Robert Roland, age 56, was trapped in the cab of his vehicle. Fire responded to the scene and cut the driver from the cab of the truck. Mr. Roland was transported to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN for evaluation. The roadway was shut down from approximately 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for investigation and cleanup of roadway. The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT-A) was contacted and responded to the scene. The crash report is not complete at this time.” According to Georgia State Troopers on the scene Ms. Reid was surprisingly not injured in the crash. Mr. Roland had to be extricated from the CMV and was seriously injured. Georgia State Patrol troopers also advised Ms. Reid had charges pending in the crash.
