GSP searching for driver in fatal hit-and-run Sunday in Whitfield County

Domingo Loarca-tercero, 22, of Chatsworth was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Whitfield County Jail charged by the Georgia State Patrol with open container violation, homicide by vehicle 1st degree, felony, fail to report accident resulting in death, failure to maintain lane, wrong side of road, hit & run; driver to stop/return to accident scene, driving while license is suspended or revoked, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. The man has a lengthy history of DUI and was just arrested on May 22nd by Dalton Police for DUI

PREVIOUS: According to the Georgia State Patrol, “The accident is still under investigation and these are the preliminary investigative findings. On June 6, 2021, at 7:38 p.m., the Georgia State Patrol Post 5 Dalton was requested to investigate a traffic crash on Dawnville Road at Groves Drive in Whitfield County. The preliminary investigation shows a black Toyota Corolla was traveling west on Dawnville Road and crossed the centerline striking a maroon Chevrolet S-10 head-on. After impact, the driver of the Toyota Corolla left the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet S-10, Mr. Edward W. Jones, 59 years old, suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the black Toyota Corolla has not been located.
