Homeless car thief arrested after stolen truck she’s driving runs out of gas in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on January 28th, 2021 Deputy Headrick was dispatched to Utility Road in reference to a suspicious white Ford F-150 in the area. The deputy located the truck broken down on the side of the road with the hood up. A white female was standing by the driver door just south of Miracle Road. The female stated that her name was Rainey Bennett, 23, address listed as homeless and that she had ran out of gas while just riding around. When the deputy ask her who the truck belonged to she said that she had got it from a friend but that she didn’t know his name. The deputy had dispatch run the temporary Georgia tag “E5020109” and he was advised that the truck was reported stolen by the Dalton PD. At this time Rainey Bennett was arrested without incident for felony theft by receiving stolen vehicle. During the pat down search keys to the truck was located in her left hand jacket pocket. The vehicle was towed to thee towing lot where a hold was placed on it by Dalton PD. Rainey Bennett was transported to the jail charged by the Dalton Police Department with felony theft by taking/larceny/theft of an automobile and by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with felony theft by receiving a stolen vehicle.
