Homeless man threatens detective at jail after being caught trying to have sex with child in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On August 23rd, 2022, Gary Lamar Collins, 45, Homeless, Lindale, contacted someone he believed to be a child under 16 years old. According to the report, “He engaged in graphic descriptions of sex acts and asked for nude pictures while believing the child to be in school. He also asked the person to meet him to engage in graphic sex acts, which would have been child molestation.” When Gary arrived at the arranged location, he was taken into custody and found in possession of meth. While at the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, officers observed Gary was on the phone in booking cell 7 when he inquired about his charges. When the investigator advised him of his charges, Gary became arranged and extremely aggressive and hostile, making several threats such as ” Open this f***ing door, and I’ll f***ing show you. I’m coming for you”. Gary’s threats were made while he was screaming extreme vulgar and offensive language as well as him punching the glass that was between him and the investigator. Gary was booked and charged with child molestation, sexual exploitation of a child, obscene internet contact with a child, use of a computer to solicit a child to commit a crime, terroristic threats, and possession of methamphetamine.
