Illinois man arrested after driving reckless at speeds over 100 mph on I-75 in Gordon County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On July 18th, 2022, at 6:25 AM, Cpl. Boyd was traveling north on I-75, near MM 320, in the middle lane of travel. According to the report, “Cpl. Boyd was on routine patrol in a marked Georgia State Patrol vehicle. Cpl. Boyd saw a vehicle (that would later be identified as a 2022 Mazda SUV) traveling north on I-75 behind him, making lane changes from the right lane to the left lane, around medium traffic, at a high rate of speed. When the Mazda entered the left lane, Cpl. Boyd was able to visually estimate, check, and confirm the Mazda was traveling at 107 MPH in the posted seventy¬†(70) MPH speed zone of I-75.” Cpl. Boyd was able to lock the Mazda’s speed at 103 MPH as it passed him on his left. The trooper initiated a traffic stop and made contact with driver David Lee Rehbein, 50, of Illinois. Rehbein was ordered from the driver’s seat and placed under arrest. Rehbein was booked into the Gordon County Jail and charged with speeding and reckless driving.¬†
