Illinois man arrested for DUI after crashing into power pole in Gordon County

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident, on Saturday, June 19th, 2021, at 2:34 AM, Deputy Payne responded to the area of Soldiers Pathway and GA-3 in reference to a single-vehicle crash. According to the report, “Upon arrival Deputy Payne located the motor vehicle accident on Soldiers Pathway in front of the Executive Inn. Deputy Payne observed a black 2008 Nissan Altima, had struck the power pole and the power was out to the area.” The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Esvin Anibal Quino-Garcia, 38, of Elgin, Illinois. According to the report, “Deputy Payne began to speak with Mr. Quino-Garcia but was unable to communicate with him due to a language barrier, but Mr. Quino-Garcia could understand a small amount of English. Deputy Payne could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Deputy Payne then had Mr. Quino-Garcia blow into a PBT, and it showed a positive result of alcohol with a reading of .194.” When Quino-Garcia stepped out of the vehicle, he was unsteady on his feet and was staggering when he attempted to walk. The deputy did not conduct Field Sobriety testing due to the language barrier. Quino-Garcia consented to the state administer the state for blood. Quino-Garcia was transported to the Gordon County Jail charged with DUI – driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain lane, striking fixed object, and too fast for conditions.
