IT Engineer charged with felony theft by deception after buying laptops for himself with company money

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on March 29th, 2021, at around 4:11 PM, Deputy Henderson was dispatched to 300 Nexus Dr., Hanwha Q Cells USA Inc. in reference to a theft. Deputy Henderson arrived and spoke to the victim. She stated they had an employee named Phillip D. Salmon, 41, of Marietta, that was an IT Engineer that had since been terminated. According to the report, “She said they got to looking at invoices and located two different ones from their vendor for new laptops. Ms. Nash said that Phillip had ordered thru the business as the business wanted them. She said he paid $1758.36 on the MacPro. He also ordered a Levono Thinkpad. The total loss for the business was $5291.97. Deputy Henderson took a report and had the laptops entered into GCIC. On July 15th, 2021, Salmon was booked into the Whitfield County Jail charged with felony theft by deception.
