According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on April 19th, 2021, at around 12:21 AM, Deputy Figg was working traffic on I-75 southbound at the 338 cut-through. While working traffic, the deputy observed a 2021 Tesla Model 3 traveling southbound on I-75 in the left lane at a very high rate of speed. The deputy checked the vehicle on LASER, the vehicle registered 131 MPH in a posted 70 MPH Zone. The deputy pulled out to catch up with the vehicle, advising dispatch he was attempting to catch up to a. vehicle traveling 131 MPH approaching the 336 off-ramps. As the vehicle was approaching the 336, it did slow and pull over after the deputy activated his blue lights. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Savan Shantilal Ratanpara, 29, of Kennesaw, and explained the reason for the traffic stop. Once the deputy had his license, he also had Savan exit the vehicle taking him into custody. As the deputy was taking Savan into custody, Savan could not understand why he was being arrested as he was only speeding at 131 MPH. The deputy explained to him several times he was under arrest for reckless driving. Savan did not understand the reckless driving charge. Savan was transported to the Whitfield County Jail charged with speeding and reckless driving.
