LaFayette man arrested after assaulting Summerville fast food employee

According to a Summerville Police Department incident report, on Wednesday, October 6th, 2021, at around 8:00 PM, Officers responded to Jack’s located at 45 Farrar Drive. According to the report, Micheal Alpha, 45, of LaFayette, was ordering a meal when he reached across the counter to get a drink cup. The cashier serving Alpha told him that he couldn’t reach across the counter and get his own drink cups and that she would be happy to do that for him. According to the report, Alpha then got upset and asked to have his money returned to him. While the cashier was attempting to get his money back to him, Alpha again reached across the counter and grabbed the stack of empty drink cups, and threw them at the cashier. He then doused the young employee with his drink and threw the cup, striking the cashier. Alpha then threw his entire tray of food at the employee behind the counter. Summerville Police officers reviewed security camera footage inside the restaurant and confirmed the entire sequence of events stated by the employee. Alpha was arrested by Officer Sainthill and transported to the Chattooga County Jail, charged with simple battery. According to the report, employees stated before the assault Alpha stopped at Jacks after leaving Wednesday night service at church.
