According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on Saturday, February 13th, 2021, at around 3:18 PM, a 1997 Ford F-150 being driven by Mark Dewayne Fowler, 54, of LaFayette, was traveling south on GA 151. The Ford traveled off the west side of 7876 GA 151, struck a culvert with the front end of the truck. The Ford came to an uncontrolled rest off the west side of GA 151, facing south. A passenger in the Ford truck, Megan Blalock, 32, of LaFayette, was injured in the crash and transported by CHI EMS to Parkridge East Hospital. Fowler, who was driving on a suspended license, left the scene on foot before law enforcement and first responders arrived on the scene, leaving his injured passenger behind. Fowler was located by Walker County Deputy walking near Kemp Road. The deputy quickly took the suspect into custody, who was identified by witnesses as the driver who fled the scene. Fowler was charged by the Georgia State Patrol with hit-and-run, failure to maintain lane, too fast for conditions, and driving while license suspended.
