LaFayette motorcyclist seriously injured after slamming into brick mailbox in Walker County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, July 30th, 2022, at around 12:04 AM, a 2005 Honda VFR800 being driven by Larry Duane Thomas, 50, of Lee School Road, LaFayette, was traveling south on Lee School Road, negotiating a curve near East Rodgers Road. According to the crash report, “Thomas was traveling too fast in the curve, failed to maintain his lane of travel, traveled off the east side of Lee School Road, and struck a brick mailbox with the front of the motorcycle.” Thomas was seriously injured in the crash and transported by CHI EMS to Erlanger in Chattanooga, TN. Thomas was charged with driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain a single lane, operation of an unregistered vehicle, no insurance, wrong class of license and other various traffic charges.
