Lindale man arrested for DUI after speeding on Park Avenue in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On Monday, May 30th, 2022, Officer Overstreet and Officer Vicente were patrolling in the area of the Dragon Wash to make sure everything was ok, and nothing had been tampered with or damaged at the Dragon wash. Officer Vicente reported, “Once [I] got ready to turn onto Park Ave PFC Overstreet and [I] could hear from a distance that a vehicle was traveling at a fairly high rated speed on Park Ave. Once we were able to see, the vehicle quickly applied it’s brakes to slow down.” The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Joseph Jermaine Ford, 35, of Lindale. When the officer asked Ford why he was going so fast on Park Avenue while it was wet, he stated that he was upset about an argument he had just had with his wife. Officer Vicente reported, “Mr. Ford continued to talk to PFC Overstreet about what was causing him to be so upset. While stating everything to PFC Overstreet, Mr. Ford stated that he had been drinking all day long.” During the field sobriety tests, Ford showed several signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for DUI. Ford agreed to the state test and showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.160 grams which is twice the legal limit. Ford was transported to Floyd County Jail, charged with DUI.
