Locust Grove woman charged with DUI after leaving Rome River Jam concert and speeding

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, on November 6th, 2021, at approximately 11:13 PM, Trooper Sanders was on stationary patrol on GA-1 Loop near Turner Chapel Road in Floyd County. Trooper Sanders reported, “[I] observed a vehicle (2019 Honda Civic Sport) traveling at a higher rate of speed than the posted speed limit of 55MPH. [I] activated my Stalker DSR Radar and confirmed the vehicle’s speed at 75MPH.” The trooper performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver identified as Rebecca Lynn Martin, 25, of Locust Grove, GA. The trooper asked Martin where she was coming from, and she stated the Rome River Jam concert. Trooper Sanders reported, “While speaking with Ms. Martin [I] noticed an odor of alcohol coming from her person. [I] asked Ms. Martin how much she had to drink, and she stated, “not much.” [I] asked Ms. Martin how much is not much, and she stated she “had a beer at the beginning of the concert.” While speaking with Ms. Martin, [I] noticed she had slurred speech. [I] noticed Ms. Martin had bloodshot and watery eyes.” According to the report, During Field Sobriety Tests, Martin showed several signs of impairment. She then refused to provide a breath sample into a portable Alco-Sensor. Trooper Sanders then placed Martin under arrest for DUI. Martin was read the Implied Consent Notice for Suspects Age 21 or Over and refused the state test. Martin was transported to the Floyd County Jail, charged with speeding and DUI.
