Man arrested for DUI after 911 call from concerned citizen regarding vehicle all over the roadway in Catoosa County

According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On May 11th, 2022, at 5:30 PM, a BOLO was dispatched to all Catoosa County and Ringgold Police Department units concerning a white Chevrolet Express Van. According to the report, “The van was traveling northbound on I-75 heading toward Ringgold from Tunnel Hill. Dispatch advised all units the van was all over the roadway and could not maintain their lane. Dispatch also advised the driver of the van could possibly be impaired.” Ringgold Officer M. Green got out with the vehicle on I-75 Northbound at mile marker 346, and Deputy Chavez arrived on the scene shortly after Officer Green. Officer Green advised the deputy the van was pulled over on the right shoulder of the interstate. Officer Green advised Deputy Chavez the driver almost pulled out in front of an eighteen-wheeler in hopes of getting away from Officer Green. According to the report, “Deputy Chavez talked to the driver of the van, Ramirez Chavez Juan Manuel, 51, and could smell an overwhelming scent of alcohol coming from Manuel’s breath. Manuel was having problems standing upright, and he had to keep one hand on the front of Officer Green’s Patrol car to keep his balance. During field sobriety testing, Manuel showed several signs of impairment. Manuel was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state testing of his blood. According to the report, “Deputy Chavez found an open bottle of Jose Cuervo Especial Gold Tequila laying on the floorboard next to the driver side seat. The bottle of tequila would have been in arms reach of Manuel when driving. Manuel was then transported to the Catoosa County Jail, charged with DUI and open container violation.
