Man arrested for DUI after speeding on Poplar Springs Road in Catoosa County

According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On June 25th, 2022, at 10:08 PM, CPL Thomas stopped a 2105 Honda for failing to maintain a single lane while speeding 60 mph in a 35 mph on Poplar Springs Road. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as William Blake Bryant, 24, who advised he had been fighting with his girlfriend and was just trying to go to her house to talk to her. According to the report, “While Bryant was speaking, CPL Thomas could detect the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. CPL Thomas could also see Bryant’s eyes were red, slightly watery, and droopy. Bryant’s speech was also slightly slurred. Bryant stated that “I know I was speeding. I saw you and realized I was f***ed up”. CPL Thomas asked Bryant if he’d been drinking, and he at first said no, but CPL Thomas asked him again, and he said he did have two beers earlier. During field sobriety testing, Bryant showed several signs of impairment. CPL Thomas asked Bryant again if he’d only had two beers, and he said he may have had three now. Bryant was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state testing of his blood. Bryant was transported to the Catoosa County Jail, charged with speeding and DUI.
