According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on February 4th, 2022, at 3:45 PM, Deputy Rogers responded to Clydesdale Lane in reference to a domestic dispute that had been physical. According to the report, “Upon arrival Deputy Rogers made contact with Johnny Devan Willis, 22, in the front yard. Deputy Rogers observed Willi’s lip and nose to be bloody and asked Willis what had happened. Willis stated that he was in the bedroom sleeping and his stepmother (the victim) came in to wake him up. Willis stated that all of a sudden, the victim just started hitting him. Deputy Rogers could also smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Willis as well.” Deputy Rogers spoke with the victim, who stated her ex-stepson had been living with her for approximately 4-5 days. The victim stated she let him stay with her in an attempt to help him out as he was going through some very hard times. According to the report, “The victim stated she does not like alcohol being in her house due to losing a child in the past due to alcoholism. The victim stated she found multiple empty bottles of alcohol in her house and went to wake Willis up, who was passed out drunk in the bedroom. The victim stated when she woke Willis up, he got very aggressive, so she went to walk away from him. The victim stated as she was walking down the hall Willis came up behind her and started pushing on her, grabbing on her, and putting his hands around her throat, choking her to the point she couldn’t breathe.” The victim stated she then started to fight for her life and fought Willis off of her. She said that is how Willis got a bloody nose, lip, and fingernail marks. According to the report, “Deputy Rogers observed multiple serious red marks on the victim’s face, and neck/throat area consistent with what would be from Willis placing his hands around her neck. A small juvenile witness observed the violent struggle and observed Willis attempt to strangle the victim to death with his hands around her neck.” While being transported to the Catoosa County Jail, Willis screamed, cried, cursed, and kicked at the cage the entire way. Willis also banged his head multiple times against the window bars and door. While being booked into the jail, Willis did not obey what he was told. Willis was charged with aggravated assault FVA, cruelty to children 3rd degree, and obstruction of officers.
