Man resists arrest after showing back up to Econo Lodge in Dalton and causing disturbance

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on April 7th, 2021, at around 12:13 AM, Officer Bell responded to 1507 North Tibbs Road in reference to a disturbance. While en route, dispatch advised that Jody Stokes, 41, of Chattanooga, had returned to the location and was threatening to kick the door in. Officer Bell responded to the same location at 11:37 PM, on April 6th, 2021, for a disturbance between Jody and a woman. Jody advised that the woman owed him $3000 for him, allowing her to stay with him. Jody also advised that he was just there trying to help a friend out. The woman told the officer that she did not want him there and that she never owed him money. The officer advised Jody that he needed to leave the location, and if they were to return, he would be taken to jail. After being given a warning not to show back up, Jody returned. Lt. Bishop and Officer Bell arrived on the scene the second time and saw Jody standing at the bottom of the stairs of the hotel as they pulled up. Officer Bell reported, “[I] then asked Jody why he returned to the location after he was advised to not return. Jody proceeded to stare at me and not answer. [I] then grabbed Jody’s right wrist in an attempt to place him under arrest. Jody then pulled away and tucked both of his arms into his stomach, and locked his hands together.” While attempting to pull his arm back again, Jody pulled away. Jody was then assisted to the ground while he continued to keep his arms locked closely into his stomach, resisting arrest. Lt. Bishop assisted Officer Bell in obtaining Jody’s arms from under his torso in order to secure his hands to place him under arrest. Jody was transported to the Whitfield County Jail charged with obstruction, burglary, terroristic threats, criminal trespass, loitering, or prowling.
