Marietta man arrested for DUI after after stopping on the side of I-75 in Gordon County to urinate

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On August 15th, 2022, at 4:01 PM, TFC Cochran advised Troop A Communications that he was assisting a motorist on I-75 northbound, mile marker 316. Trooper Mefford arrived on the scene and assisted Trooper Cochran. Trooper Cochran advised that the driver, Rolando Sanchez, 63, of Marietta, was stopped on the shoulder of I-75 with his passenger side door open. According to the report, “Sanchez was urinating between the open door and the cab of his vehicle.” Trooper Cochran made contact with Sanchez and detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his mouth. Sanchez then showed a BrAC .149 on a PBT. Sanchez stated he was coming from Atlanta and advised he had consumed alcohol. When asked, he stated only one beer. Trooper Mefford reported, “[I] asked if he had stopped anywhere or if he was just drinking while he was driving down the road. He said that he was drinking while he was driving. TFC Cochran advised that there was an open beer in the cup holder Mr. Sanchez’s vehicle. While speaking with Mr. Sanchez, [I] could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. [I] also noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy.” During Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Sanchez showed several signs of impairment. Sanchez was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Sanchez was then booked into the Gordon County Jail, charged with DUI, open container violation, and stopping, standing, or parking prohibited in specified place.
