Minor injuries reported after vehicle crashes power pole causing power outage in Walker County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, On September 27th, 2022, at 6:11 PM, A 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, being driven by Eastton Broome, 15, of Chickamauga, was traveling west on Happy Valley Road in the westbound lane. According to the crash report, “The 15-year-old failed to maintain his lane of travel by running off the night (north) side of Happy Valley Road, causing him to strike a power pole with the front of the Nissan. The 15-year-old stated that he was temporarily blinded by the setting sun as he traveled uphill prior to the collision. The collision with the power pole caused tension in the power lines, which pulled down an additional power pole east of the area of impact and caused a huge power outage for homes in the vicinity.” A passenger Lora Price, 41, of Chickamauga, along with the driver, suffered minor injuries. Two seven-year-olds in the backseat were not injured. The GSP trooper gave the driver a simple warning.
