Minor injury reported after GDC fire truck crashes into vehicle while responding to fire call in Walker County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on Saturday, February 27th, 2021, at around 9:40 PM, Vehicle #1, a Georgia Department of Corrections fire truck being driven by Devin Black, 21and was traveling east on Kay Conley Road with its lights and siren activated approaching the intersection of State Route 1 (Hwy 27). Vehicle #2, a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu being driven by Olivia Guest, 18, of Rossville by was traveling north on State Route 1 in the left lane approaching the intersection of Kay Conley Road. The witness and both drivers stated that the traffic signal at the intersection was green for State Route 1 and red for Kay Conley Road. Black failed to use due regard and proceeded through the red traffic signal. The 1991 Ford fire struck the Malibu in the driver’s side with its front. After impact, both vehicles came to a controlled final rest on the east shoulder of State Route 1. The teen suffered minor injuries in the crash. The investigating trooper issued a warning to the driver of the GDC fire truck.
