New York man booked into the Catoosa County Jail on child molestation charges

According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on July 6th, 2021, A Catoosa County Detective was contacted by a New York State Police Investigator, for assistance in a child molestation investigation. According to the report, “He explained the family is split with one victim living with her father (identified as Matthew William Sargent, 23, of Syracuse, NY) in New York and the second victim living in Catoosa County with her mother. According to the New York victim’s disclosure, crimes occurred in both New York and Georgia with both children (11-years-old) being victims.” A forensic interview was been scheduled for the child on July 7, 2021. According to the report warrants were issued for Sargent and on March 2nd, 2022, Detectives transported Sargent from Syracuse, NY to Catoosa County Jail to be processed on the warrants. Sargent was charged with aggravated sexual battery x2 and child molestation x3.
