According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On June 6th, 2022, at 9:50 PM, TFC2 Terry was on patrol on Rome Road when he checked a 2018 Volkswagen GTI at 73 MPH in the 55 MPH zone. Trooper Terry reported, “As [I] turned around on the vehicle, [I] also noticed the vehicle was failing to maintain its lane.” The trooper stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Emily Elizabeth Ayers, 28, Plainview. The trooper asked Ayers where they were going. She stated she had a rough night at work at Jefferson’s, and she and her friends were headed to Florida. Trooper Terry reported, “While [I] was speaking to her, [I] noticed her speech was slurred and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. [I] asked her how much she had to drink, and she stated one beer at work. [I] then had her exit the vehicle, and [I] asked her again, and she stated she had one 16-ounce beer.” During field sobriety tests, Ayers showed several signs of impairment and showed a BAC of .120 on a PBT. Ayers was then placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. The trooper also noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Ayers was transported to the Gordon County Jail and charged with DUI, speeding, and failure to maintain a single lane.
