Resaca man arrested after stealing catalytic converters off vehicles at car dealership in Gordon County

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On Thursday, July 21st, 2022, at 11:27 AM, Deputy Philips was dispatched to 3674 Rome Road (Adairsville Auto Mart) for a theft of a catalytic converter off of a vehicle. The victim, who works at the dealership, stated he had two more catalytic converters stolen last night. Prior to this incident, Deputy Philips reported an incident on July 20th, 2022, for a stolen catalytic converter from a White Dodge Ram. The victim stated on July 20th, he checked the two vehicles, and they were not missing the catalytic converters, so the theft must have taken place overnight. According to the report, “The victim stated this morning he checked all the vehicles in the parking lot and noticed two more with a missing catalytic converter. The victim said he looked under the two vehicles and noticed the catalytic converters missing.” The deputy checked and confirmed the converters were not on the vehicle. After further investigation into the theft, William Thomas Johnson, 30, of Resaca, was arrested on September 17th, 2022. Johnson was booked into the Gordon County Jail, charged with felony theft by taking x2 and misdemeanor theft by taking x3.
