According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On Saturday, August 28th, 2021, at approximately 9:16 PM, Deputy Carnes conducted a traffic stop on a Silver 2009 Honda Civic on I-75 southbound at GA-225 after observing the vehicle merged abruptly across one lane of travel onto the exit ramp in front of several vehicles. Deputy Carnes approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Shawn Lee Hall, 19, of Resaca. According to the report, “While speaking with Hall, Deputy Carnes detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The deputy located a small clear bag containing the suspected marijuana in Hall’s left front pants pocket. Deputies then located a glass smoking pipe containing meth between the center console and the passenger seat. Deputies then located a second meth pipe containing meth inside a lunchbox. According to the report, “Due to Deputy Carnes suspecting Hall just ingested marijuana, he asked Deputy Jinright to conduct standardized field sobriety on Hall.” During field sobriety tests, Hall showed several clues that he was indeed under the influence of drugs. Hall was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test. Hall had warrants taken out for him for DUI, improper lane change, possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of methamphetamine. On June 30th, 2022, Hall was booked into the Gordon County Jail on the warrants.
