According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On May 24th, 2022, at 6:58 AM, Officer Allen responded to East Walnut Avenue and Airport Road to assist Sgt. Saylors with a traffic stop. The driver of the maroon Ford Fusion, Chandra Nicole Celis, 40, of Resaca, stated that she had taken a Klonopin earlier. Officer Allen reported, “While speaking with Chandra [I] noticed that her eyes were glassy and her eyelids were droopy. She looked as if she was fighting to fall asleep. Chandra stated that she is prescribed Klonopin and takes it twice a day. Chandra stated that she was tired because she had kids and school.” During field sobriety tests, Chandra showed several signs of drug impairment and showed a .000. PBT. Chandra stated she had taken two other medications that she was prescribed. She did admit that the medication had a warning label about operating machinery or driving. Chandra was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test. Chandra was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, charged with DUI drugs less safe and license not on person. WCSO Lt. Gibson, who is a drug recognition expert, spoke with Chandra and confirmed she was impaired.
