Ringgold man arrested for DUI after crashing on Poplar Springs Road in Catoosa County

According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On October 15th, 2022, at 12:01 AM, Lt. Cunningham was dispatched to Poplar Springs Road in the area of Hulsey Drive in reference to a vehicle crash. Ringgold Police Department Sgt. Goresh stated when he arrived, he made contact with the driver, identified as Dustin Lee McConathy, 29, of Ringgold, and noticed her had a laceration on his face and was spitting blood. Lt. Cunningham made contact with Dustin, and he was still sitting in the truck. Lt. Cunningham observed a laceration above Dustin’s right eye. According to the report, “Lt. Cunningham asked Dustin what happened, and he stated “I’m f***ed up”. Lt. Cunningham asked Dustin if he meant he was “f***ed up” due to the laceration to his face. Dustin stated, “no, I’m drunk”. Lt. Cunningham asked Dustin how much he had to drink, and he stated a lot. Lt. Cunningham asked Dustin what he meant by a lot, like three beers or ten beers? Dustin stated no, I’d had a lot more than that. Lt. Cunningham observed Dustin to be slurring his words, his eyes were watery and bloodshot, and Dustin had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.” Dustin refused the state test and advised he wanted to be transported to EMS. Dustin was observed to have been traveling west on Poplar Springs Road, attempting to negotiate a curve. Dustin failed to maintain his lane, crossed into the eastbound lanes, and went into a ditch. The vehicle then struck a culvert and went over a driveway, and came to final rest in the yard of 1539 Poplar Springs Road. Warrants were issued for Dustin, and he turned himself into the Catoosa County Jail on October 27th, 2022.
