Ringgold man arrested for DUI after speeding on Commerce Street in Summerville

According to a Summerville Police Department incident report, On Sunday, June 5th, 2022, at 6:30 AM, Summerville Police Department Officer Wentz observed a vehicle doing over 50 mph in a 35 mph speed zone on Commerce Street in Summerville. Officer Wentz initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Terry Lamar Bean, 61, of Ringgold. The officer immediately reported he suspected that the driver had been drinking. Lamar told the officer that he “had one or two shots” prior to driving. Inside the man’s vehicle, the officer found an open bottle of whiskey. Lamar was placed under arrest and booked into the Chattooga County Jail, charged with DUI driving under the influence of alcohol, and speeding.
