Ringgold man found DUI after speeding and weaving over the roadway after leaving Dalton bar

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on February 27th, 2021, at around 1:38 AM, Officer Black, who is in-field training, was on patrol in the area of Market Street. The officer observed a black in color Honda Civic pull out of a parking lot and turn right on market street. The officer reported that the Honda Civic pulled onto Market Street at a speed that would be unsafe while conducting a right turn. While negotiating the turn, Honda Civic was observed crossing the double yellow lines then returning to the correct lane. The Honda Civic was observed going at a high rate of speed on West Walnut Avenue going eastbound. The vehicle would also weave within its lane. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver identified as Joshua Gadsby, 29, of Ringgold. Joshua advised the officer he was coming from the Oyster Pub. Joshua was asked if he had anything to drink, and he stated he had a couple of beers. The officer was able to smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Joshua. FTO Hughes explained to Joshua that he would like to conduct a field sobriety test on him to ensure he was safe to be driving. Joshua showed several clues off impairment and was arrested for DUI-driving under the influence of alcohol. Joshua advised he did not want to take the state breath test. Joshua was booked into the Whitfield County Jail charged with DUI less safe and weaving over the roadway.
