Rock Spring man killed in ATV crash while attempting to flee from GSP trooper in Walker County overnight

From the Georgia State Patrol, “The following are the preliminary findings of a crash investigation by GSP Post 41 Lafayette. This is an ongoing investigation. On June 12, around midnight, a Trooper was on a traffic stop at GA 1 near mile marker 25 in Walker County. A Trooper observed an ATV (Razor) enter GA 1 from the wood line and begin to travel northbound in the southbound lanes of GA 1 at a high rate of speed. While attempting to catch up with the ATV, the Trooper observed the ATV perform a U-turn and enter the grass median. As the Trooper approached the location, he observed the ATV had traveled between the north and southbound bridges of GA 1 down a concrete embankment overturning onto McFarland Avenue. All three occupants were ejected as the ATV overturned. Two occupants, including a four-year old child, sustained injuries. The Trooper performed CPR on the unconscious driver until EMS arrived on scene. The driver, Justin Flick, age 31 from Rock Spring, was pronounced deceased by the Walker County Coroner upon arrival at the hospital. Alcohol is believed to be a strong factor in the crash.”
