Rome couple arrested after children and animals found living in terrible conditions in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police incident report, On October 10th, 2022, at 2:40 PM, Investigator Walters started an investigation after a small child showed up to school covered in animal feces. When officers arrived at the home on found that the child, as well as another, was living in extreme filth, with the floor of the home caving in. According to the report, officers and investigators located an animal in the home that was denied veterinary care. Jon Michael Nicholson, 44, and Paige Nicole Nicholson, 34, both of Rome, were arrested and booked into the Floyd County Jail, charged with two counts of cruelty to children in the 2nd degree, two counts of contribution to the deprivation of a child resulting in serious injury or death and cruelty to animals.
