Rome felon found in possession of firearm and drugs during traffic stop after leaving club in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, on June 12th, 2022, at 2:41 AM, Officer Bleecker and Officer Stanfield conducted a traffic stop on a Silver Nissan Altima driven by Gerald Lamar Daniel Jr., 29, of Rome, for failing to maintain his lane of travel, changing lanes erratically and changing without a proper turn signal. According to the report, officers observed the vehicle leaving the nightclub located on Martha Berry Highway in Armuchee, heading south toward Rome. Officer Bleecker reported, “Upon making contact with Gerald at the vehicle, [I] immediately detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside. After retrieving identification from both men, [I] returned to the patrol vehicle to run the licenses of Gerald and his passenger Therain Demond Daniel, 26, of Rome. [I] informed PFC Stanfield of my detection of marijuana. We returned to the vehicle and asked both men to exit. Upon informing Gerald of our suspicion that there may be marijuana inside PFC Stanfield informed Gerald the vehicle would be searched due to the odor of marijuana. Upon conducting the search [I] located a small clear baggie of marijuana inside the center console as well as a small clear baggie containing what appeared to be an MDMA (Ecstasy) pill. At this time, we were informed by dispatch that the passenger Therain had an active warrant through the city of Rome for a Probation Violation.” Officers also located two loaded revolvers (22 caliber revolver and a Smith & Wesson 38 Special Revolver). Gerald denied being a convicted felon. Officers located an open “Bud Light” beer can in the passenger door as well as a half-empty bottle of “Hennessy” liquor. Gerald was transported to the Floyd County Jail, where jail deputies confirmed Gerlad was a convicted felon with a criminal history check. Gerald was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of schedule I, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
