Rome man arrested after violently assaulting woman during domestic in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On May 4th, 2022, officers were dispatched to Maple Road in reference to a domestic. The male, Ronnie Delane Roach Jr, 41, of Rome, said that he and his girlfriend did get into an argument at his residents on Maple Road. He said that she let the dog out, and it took off, and he told her she needed to go find the dog. He said that when he showed up that she went out the front door and said that he did put his hand on her shoulder and said you are not going to talk to me like that and that they were yelling at each other. Officers then talked to the victim, who advised that earlier, her and Ronnie had gotten into an argument and that she was scared for her life. She said she then walked up to some people and asked them for a ride because she was afraid that her boyfriend was going to seriously hurt her. According to the report, “She said that she called her friend and asked that she come over just in case he showed up. At that time, Ronnie did show up and went into the house and chased her out the front door. Once outside, he violently grabbed her and dragged her around to the back on the way back. She said that he grabbed her around her neck and that she was frightened and scared for her safety.” Officer did observe that the victim did have bruising starting to show on her wrist and had severe red marks around her neck. She did admit that she is very scared of him and stated Ronnie is very abusive to her. Officer Chandler spoke with witnesses, who told him that they had seen Ronnie and the female yelling at each other and then said that he was dragging and violently hitting her. According to the report, “When talking to Ronnie, officers noticed that his hand and knuckles were red. Ronnie was transported to the Floyd County Jail, charged with battery FVA and aggravated assault.
