Rome man arrested for DUI after being stopped for driving all over the roadway in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, on December 3rd, 2021, at around 11:30 PM, Officer Dollar responded as an assisting officer to a traffic stop initiated by FCPD Lt. Hovers. According to the report, While Lt. Hovers was giving dispatch his traffic stop information, Lt. Hovers advised the driver was driving all over the roadway.” Officer Dollar reported, Upon my arrival, [I] observed the driver, later identified as Shea Kendrix, 39, of Rome, behaving erratically. His body movements were random and unpredictable. Shea could also not stay still. Officer Puckett conducted Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus on Shea. While Officer Puckett was conducting field sobriety, [I] observed Officer Puckett have to stop numerous times to instruct Shea to keep his attention on him. Shea also moved his head while following Officer Puckett’s pen tip.” During field sobriety, Shea showed several clues of impairment. According to the report, “Shea did state that he consumed bud light alcoholic beverage poor to driving, as well as using crack/cocaine earlier in the day. Shea also gave different answers to Lt. Hovers when being asked where he was coming from and heading to.” Shea was placed under arrest for DUI. Shea then agrees to the state implied consent. Shea was transported to the Floyd County Jail, charged with failure to maintain a single lane and DUI driving under the influence of multiple substances.
