Rome man arrested for DUI after crashing Dodge Charger into pole on club parking lot in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, on March 20th, 2022, at 1:02 AM, Officer Stanfield responded to calls of multiple improperly parked vehicles on Highway 27 in Armuchee. Officer Stanfield reported, “Upon arrival, [I] noticed two vehicles parked on Hennon Drive and Georgia 1. [I] also observed several more cars parked further onto Hennon Drive. [I] did make contact with some of the owners, and they did have them removed. Security for the club made an announcement to remove the other vehicles. After approximately 10 minutes, [I] called for the on-call tow service (Boatfields) to retrieve the remaining vehicles. While waiting for Boatfields [I] observed a red Dodge Charger pull onto Hennon Drive, pull into the business parking lot, back out of the entrance, and strike a small pole. The red Charger pulled off soon after and parked on the road.” The officer then made contact with the driver, later identified as Jamarie Tyre Sloman, 26, Rome, and advised him that he could not park on the road. As soon as the officer made contact with Sloman, he could immediately smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. Officer Stanfield reported, “[I] did ask Sloman if he had anything to drink that night, and he stated that he only had one “ultra” earlier. During field sobriety tests, Sloman showed several signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for DUI Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Sloman was then transported to the Floyd County Jail, where he was charged with DUI.
