Rome man arrested for DUI during GSP DUI road check in Floyd County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On October 29th, 2022, at 10:47 PM, Trooper Edwards of Paulding Post 29 was participating in a supervisor-approved DUI road check on Kingston Highway and Freeman Ferry Road involving multiple Troopers from Troop A. During this road check, Corporal Hensley made contact with a male driver of a 2022 Ford F-150, who told him he only had consumed a couple of beers. Trooper Edwards then made contact with the driver, identified as Jeffery Scott Henderson, 52, of Rome, who advised he only had consumed a couple of beers before driving. Trooper Edwards reported, “Mr. Henderson then told me he had also consumed a couple of shots of Fireball Whisky as well. [I] immediately noted that there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Mr. Henderson’s breath and noted that he had bloodshot and watery eyes.” Henderson advised the beers were 12 ounces and Budweiser. The trooper also noted his speech was slurred at times as well. During Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Henderson showed several signs of impairment and a BAC of .134 on a PBT. Henderson was then placed under arrest for DUI driving under the influence and agreed to the state test. Henderson was transported to the Floyd County Jail and charged with DUI.
