Rome man arrested for DUI during GSP DUI road check in Floyd County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, at 3:18 AM, while Corporal Haney was participating in an approved Georgia State Patrol DUI Road Check on 2nd Avenue at 3rd Street, he came in contact with a black GMC Sierra with the driver identified as Demico Marquez Johnson, 34, of Rome. Corporal Haney reported, “While talking to Mr. Johnson, [I] could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. [I] also noticed his eyes were bloodshot and watery. [I] asked Mr. Johnson how much he had to drink, and he stated he only had one shot. During Standardized Field Sobriety tests Johnson showed several signs of impairment and showed a BAC of .104 on a PBT. Johnson was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test by saying “no”. Johnson was transported to the Floyd County Jail and charged with DUI.
